01

Entry and visas

  • Visa requirements depend on your nationality and may change. Please check the official source for the latest rules.
  • You may need to complete the online Taiwan Arrival Card before entering. Please check the official source for the latest rules.
  • Passport validity and other entry conditions: please verify them with the official source. Please check the official source for the latest rules.
  • Keep your conference registration, hospitality arrangements and lodging address with you (a printed copy helps) in case immigration asks.
02

Weather and clothing

  • Late February in Taipei is cool and often damp or rainy, typically roughly 13–20°C (55–68°F).
  • Dress in layers, and bring a jacket and an umbrella.
  • Indoor venues (MRT, shopping malls, halls) may be air-conditioned; a light extra layer is handy.
03

Money and payment

  • The currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (TWD, NT$).
  • Cash is still widely used at small shops and night markets, so carry some small bills and coins.
  • Credit cards are generally accepted at hotels and department stores.
  • Convenience stores have ATMs that can accept international cards; ask your bank about availability and fees.
  • You can exchange currency at the bank counters at the airport.
04

Power and plugs

  • Taiwan uses 110V, 60Hz, with Type A/B plugs (the same as the US and Japan).
  • If your devices use a different voltage or plug, bring an adapter or converter.
05

Getting around

  • From Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), the Taoyuan Airport MRT reaches Taipei Main Station in about 35–50 minutes.
  • Conference hospitality covers airport transport and lodging only from February 19–22. If you arrive early or leave late, please arrange your own airport transport and lodging.
  • An EasyCard (悠遊卡) works on the MRT and buses. Buy and top it up at MRT stations and convenience stores.
  • Taipei Dome is near Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station (國父紀念館站) on the MRT Bannan (blue) Line. We recommend taking the MRT and allowing time to walk.
06

Phone and internet

  • SIM cards and eSIMs are sold at the telecom counters at the airport (check that your phone supports eSIM).
  • Free Wi-Fi (iTaiwan) is available in many public places.
07

Health and safety

  • Emergency numbers: 110 for police; 119 for fire and ambulance.
  • Tap water should be boiled or filtered before drinking. Bottled water is fine too.
  • Bring your personal medicines, with prescriptions or generic drug names.
  • Travel and medical insurance is recommended.
08

Handy tips

  • Convenience stores (7-Eleven, FamilyMart and others) are everywhere for drinks, snacks and EasyCards.
  • Signs are mostly in Traditional Chinese. Carry your hotel or host address written in Chinese to show taxi drivers or passers-by.
  • Keep quiet on the MRT, and do not eat or drink inside the MRT paid area.
